Susan H. Gitzinger, PharmD, MPA, Vice President, Business Development and Project Management, received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Eastern Kentucky University, her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy, and her Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Kentucky Martin School of Public Policy and Administration. As a student, she was actively involved in a variety of local and national student organizations, serving as a Regional Officer for the American Pharmacists Association and guiding the University of Kentucky Student APhA chapter to receiving the National Chapter of the Year Award. During her tenure at UK, she also received one of four national APhA Student Leadership Awards, the Dean Slone Award (chosen by the student body for academic, professional, and social accomplishments), and the graduating senior APhA Professionalism Award. After graduation, she has served in a variety of professional roles including as Director of Professional Affairs for the Kentucky Pharmacists Association (KPhA), Pharmacy Manager for the Toyota Family Pharmacy, and as a Medical Science Liaison for AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Gitzinger has served as a community-based preceptor for PY4 PharmD students, while also serving as a charter member of the University of Kentucky’s Pharmacy 21, practitioner member of the assessment committee, and practitioner interviewer for potential incoming pharmacy students. At CEC, she leads clinical development and execution of medical education across a broad range of clinical topics, including educational activities designed to address guidelines adherence, application of the latest data to clinical decision making, and interprofessional education; provides strategic scientific expertise to meet business needs and educational needs of target audiences; maintains relationships within an extensive network of renowned clinical experts; and attends national scientific meetings for specialists, primary care clinicians, and allied health professionals.
