Elizabeth S. Waxman, RN, MSN, NP-C, AOCN received her BSN from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, her MSN, as a Clinical Nurse Specialist from Columbia University in New York, NY, and certificate for Adult Nurse Practitioner from Texas Woman’s University in Houston, TX. Her employment experience includes working at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from 1985-1991. Elizabeth relocated to Houston, Texas and has worked as an advanced practice nurse at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center since 1991. She worked in the Department of Lymphoma from 1991-1998, and then transferred to the Department of Thoracic/Head & Neck Medical oncology.

Elizabeth’s interests in thoracic oncology include thymoma, small cell lung cancer, paraneoplastic syndromes, gene mutations, targeted therapy and immunotherapy treatments, toxicity management, and maintenance therapy for lung cancer. She has given numerous presentations, and written publications on various topics including prostate cancer, plasma cell dyscrasias, and lung cancer. She is also involved in patient and nursing education.
