About Creative Educational Concepts
Creative Educational Concepts (CEC) is a full-service, woman-owned (WBENC-certified), Kentucky-based corporation founded in 2000 that offers extensive experience in live and web-based continuing medical education activities. Located in Lexington, KY, CEC has a strong commitment to enhance the quality and integrity of continuing education activities. CEC was among the first 15 entities in the U.S. to achieve Joint Accreditation™ as a provider of continuing education from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). A leading model for interprofessional collaborative practice, Joint Accreditation™ distinguishes the standards for education providers to deliver continuing education planned “by the healthcare team for the healthcare team.”
We are proud to be a WBENC-certified Women's Business Enterprise (WBE).
The mission of CEC is to enhance healthcare through the provision of high quality, tailored, engaging learning opportunities presented by and for the interprofessional team of physicians, pharmacists, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals.
Capabilities & Accreditation Services
CEC is a full-service medical education provider. In the course of providing activities of an educational and professional nature, the company creates, accredits, produces, and delivers educational programs and associated materials. CEC offers a number of live program formats, as well as web-based education. We specialize in live, interprofessional continuing education (IPCE) that has been demonstrated to improve outcomes, including grand rounds, interactive symposia, regional chapter meetings, and residency immersion programming.
We conduct all of our own needs assessments and work with experts around the world to ensure the highest level of scientific validity and accuracy in our content. We also employ peer review and conflict of interest resolution to ensure that information is current and fair balanced. Our logistical team provides turn-key activity planning services, which includes venue selection, budgetary planning/reconciliation, faculty recruitment, graphic design, travel arrangements, and provision of comprehensive evaluation metrics upon activity completion. All of our web-based programming achieves Moore’s Level 4 outcomes or higher and Level 5 projects (live activities) are accompanied by a detailed outcomes report with in-depth statistical analysis.
CEC operates among the elite few in the accredited provider community to earn Joint Accreditation™ from the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), recognizing organizations that offer team-focused continuing education to healthcare providers with the ultimate goal of improving patient care. We develop activities for interprofessional audiences that are customized to the demonstrated educational need. In addition to credit for physicians, pharmacists, and nurses, we are also able to provide additional accreditation on our live and web-based activities, including AAFP, AOA, AANP, AAPA, and CCMC, to name a few. All accreditation services include rapid turnaround of necessary credit confirmation to participants, including posting to CPE Monitor or emailed statements of credit or certificates of attendance. We also ensure compliance with reconciliation of all budgetary, reporting, and related documentation to commercial supporters within predefined timelines.
CEC has a long tradition of compliance with all relevant standards involved in the conduct of continuing professional education. We are compliant with all federal and state regulations, including the ACCME Standards of Commercial Support. We are also well positioned with staff and technology resources in place to provide reporting required by the Physician Payment Sunshine Act, as needed.
Advocacy Efforts for the Value of Continuing Medical Education
CEC has long held the belief and position that accredited CME plays a vital and under-appreciated role in America’s healthcare system. Now more than ever, the need for CME organizations to represent and promote the interests of CME among the nation’s policymakers is crucial. Given this, CEC is proud to be a contributing member of the CME Coalition (www.cmecoalition.org). By pooling the support of academics, practitioners, companies and institutions, the Coalition works to protect CME by educating federal policy makers on issues related to the provision of CME, monitoring state policy initiatives that could adversely impact CME, and advocating for sensible federal and state policies to advance its practice.
